Church Counseling

Searching for a Church Counseling Degree?
At one point in our lives, we may have sought out help from higher powers or received some sort of church counseling. Having a person of faith help you through troubled times can be a comforting thought and many people do turn to their pastor, priest, or minister for help when they need it most. Church counseling provides people with advice and guidance based on faith and biblical scriptures, and that training isn’t always a natural gift. In fact, while your church leaders were in seminary school, they  may have taken a church counseling course or even specialized in it during the course of their studies.

Church Counseling

If you are considering making your career based on faith, and taking a more leadership role in the Christian community, then church counseling may be something you want to focus on. Being a resource in a small or large parish, your church members may need a confidant to talk to.  They need someone who can provide a different perspective on your situation and use their faith and knowledge of the Bible and its stories to help you see things in another light, perhaps even help you resolve your problems.

Church counseling is usually offered in masters degree programs in seminary school, but it may also be offered in undergraduate ministry degrees as well. In most cases, church counseling is offered as a concentration or specialization. Graduates from seminary school can still take counseling courses to help improve their performance as a church leader in hopes of making a difference in the lives of others. While some may say that faith is dying or at least on the decline in the United States, sometimes having a well-educated church leader can help revive a parish that may be dwindling in numbers. Church counseling degrees can make you a stronger church leader, and help your parishioners when they’re in need.
